Coulcher-Porter stages comeback to book GU19 finals at 2025 Squash Travel by Nirvana British Junior Championships 2025

The semi-finals of the 2025 Squash Travel by Nirvana British Junior Championships took place in Sheffield today, with players descending upon the Steel City in search of a place in the title deciders. 

Now in its 51st year, this year’s Championships, co-hosted by Hallamshire, Abbeydale and Fullwood, will conclude on Sunday with 24 players booking themselves into the final with the hope of joining the prestigious list of former winners.  

[2] Emily Coulcher-Porter (Bucks) is still in contention for the GU19 title after she came from two games down to beat [3/4] Reka Kemecsei (Sussex) 6-11, 9-11, 11-7, 12-10, 11-4. The No.2 seed will face off against [5/7] Megan Light (Hants), who continued her winning form in a tightly contested battle against [3/4] Mille Breach in the semi-finals.  

Meanwhile, in the BU19 semi-finals, two-time BJC Champion [1] Ronnie Hickling (Surrey) continued his quest for the trophy after beating [5/8] Oliver Tate (Warwicks) 7-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-6. The No.1 seed will face off against [2] Dylan Roberts (Kent) after he beat [3/4] Ismal Kahlil 11-8, 11-5, 11-2. 

The BU17 draw saw [1] Luke McBride (Surrey) win a tough battle against Ali Khalil (Warwicks), 11-7, 11-8, 11-5, and he will now contest for the title of British Junior Champion against [2] Gabriel Chak (Surrey) who claimed victory against [3/4] Mohamed Abaza (Middx), winning 11-5,11-5,11-6. 

The GU17 semi-finals favoured the top two seeds, with [1] Harriet Broadbridge (Hants) booking her place into the final of the after beating [3/4] Fearne Copley (Yorks) 11-4, 11-8, 11-2. She will face [2] Ameerah Ismail (Warwicks) after she secured a victory over [3/4] Renata Colabella (Kent), winning 11-9, 11-3, 11-9. 

Meanwhile, in the GU15 semi-finals, [1] Phoebe Griffiths (Hants) was able to progress after beating last year’s U13 runner up, [3/4] Sienna Hampshaw (Yorks), closing out a 11-9, 11-8, 11-7 win. Griffiths will play against the No.2 seed Esther Chak (Surrey) who advanced past [3/4] Eliza Hales, winning 11-8, 11-3, 11-6. 

In the semi-finals of the BU15 event, [1] Alexander Koa-Wing (Middx) was able to confirm his place in the final after beating [3/4] Kylen Calder (Essex) 11-2, 11-2, 13-11. Koa-Wing, the third highest ranked male U15 in England, will play [5/8] Kai Miller (Warwicks) who was able to beat Scotland’s second seed Thomas Myers across four games, winning 11-7, 11-8, 7-11, 11-9. 

In the GU13 event, top seed Siona Mishra (Warwicks) was able to book her place in the final, with the former U11 champion Mishra beating [3] Freya Hennings (Surrey) 12-10, 11-4, 11-4. Wales’ [5/8] Heidi Hales was able to clinch a victory against second seed Eleanor Everington-Hunt (Yorks) across four closely contested games, with Hales winning 11-9, 8-11, 11-7, 11-7. 

In the BU13 event, top seed Ben Lamond (Dorset) continued his route to the final after an impressive semi-final performance, securing a victory against Mashhour Gadalla, winning 11-7, 11-5, 11-5. On the other side of the draw, [2] Logan Willstrop (Yorks) – son of legendary former World No.1 James Willstrop – was able to book his spot in Sunday’s final with a win against [3/4] Jacob Askey (Warwicks), prevailing 11-5, 5-11,12-10, 11-9. 

[1] Abigail Zeng (Avon) has advanced into the GU11 final after a four-game battle against [3/4] Manar Ismail, winning 11-7, 11-1, 5-11, 11-4. Zeng will meet second seed Arya Knobbs (Warwicks) in Sunday’s final after she beat [5/8] Afia Campion (Yorks) 11-8, 11-5, 11-8.  

[1] Archibald McLeod (Warwicks) booked his place in the final of the BU11 event after beating [5/8] Naishe Matamisa (Warwicks) 11-6, 11-0, 13-11. The England No.1 will play [3/4] Mitaire Onoge (Lancs) in the final after he beat second seed Gabriel Cannistraci (Middx) in a thrilling five-game match, winning 6-11, 13-11, 11-9, 8-11,11-6. 

In the BU9 category [1] Cristian Law (Herts) and [3/4] Bram Willstrop (Yorks) will meet in the first semi-final tomorrow after winning their respective quarter-finals, and [3/4] Oliver Hampshaw (Yorks) and [2] Luke Woodward (Hants) will also face off on Sunday morning.  

The GU9 is organised into a group format with three games left in the competition. [1] Maebh Lovely (Lancs) tops the group with one game remaining against [2] Lani Campion (Yorks). [3] Rose Swinden (Yorks), [4] Sarah Hussein (Bucks) and [5] India Stone (Surrey) are all in action on Sunday.
