Two-time British Junior champions to face off in BJC exhibition

Two of England’s elite stars will face off in an exciting exhibition match as part of this year’s British Junior Championships (BJC) 50th anniversary celebrations.

Millie Tomlinson and Asia Harris – both two-time British Junior champions – will take to the show court at Abbeydale Squash Club, for what’s set to be a thrilling showcase on the third day of this year’s BJC.

Former world no.20 Tomlinson lifted the U15 and U17 BJC titles in 2004 and 2007, whilst her opponent –rising star Asia Harris – topped the U13 and U15 divisions in 2017 and 2019, respectively.

The pair’s last competitive meeting came in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Northern Joe Cup, an encounter where Tomlinson triumphed 3-0.

Commenting on the prospect of facing the 14-time PSA title winner, current world no. 72 Harris said: “Playing Millie is always a privilege.

“I look forward to putting on a great performance for the players and spectators at this year’s BJC.”

Reflecting on how the tournament helped kickstart her career, world no. 58 Tomlinson said: “The BJC was definitely a highlight of the junior Squash calendar for me.

“It felt great to prove myself against everyone else in the nation and win a few national titles. The pressure of it being such a prestigious event always gave me a bit extra energy and drive in my matches.

“I’m looking forward to attending this weekend’s event and seeing the next generation of England’s best coming through.”

Meanwhile, Harris added: “It was always a monumental tournament for me as a junior competing against Britain’s best players to claim the title. It’s a great weekend and I can’t wait to see you all there competing.”

Entry to the exhibition is free for all BJC participants and attendees, with seating available on a first come, first served basis.
